40th ANNUAL REGULATORY POLICY CONFERENCE
About the Program
The Annual Regulatory Policy Conference focuses on contemporary issues of special importance to the regulatory policy community and provides a unique opportunity for high-level interaction and information exchange. Preconference workshops and integrative panels enhance the educational value of the program. Regulatory commissioners and staff members, federal and state governmental policy makers, utility industry professionals, and academic educators are welcome to attend. Continuing education credits for accountants and attorneys are available. A special one-day fundamentals workshop on the theory, principles, concepts and institutions of public utility regulation will also be offered on the Monday prior to the Annual Conference (must register separately from conference). A two hour ethics course will also be offered complimentary to Conference registrants (must register separately from conference).
Fees
The fee for the Fundamentals Course (Monday prior to the Annual Conference) is $250 for the Public Sector and $350 for the Private Sector.The fee for the Ethics course is waived for registrants of the Annual Conference. The fee for any attendee not registered for the Annual Conference is $75.00.The fee for the Conference is $395 for the Public Sector and $575 for the Private Sector. The fee covers tuition, materials, certificate of completion, support for CLE/CPE credit application (upon request), a Reception on Monday night, breakfast on Tuesday and Wednesday, and refreshment breaks. We consider public-sector attendees to be individuals who are directly employed by the local, state, or federal government or individuals that are an employee of a recognized non-profit organization. When processing payments, the Institute of Public Utilities abides by Michigan State University's security policies for information collected to process payments.
Accommodations and Dress Code
The conference will be held in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia at the Woodlands Hotel and Suites. Colonial Williamsburg is a 301 acre historic site featuring restored, reconstructed, and historically furnised buildings. Please call the Woodlands Hotel and Suites toll free at 800.261.9530 to make reservations. The rooms are available at a rate of $75.00 to government employees, and $129.00 to industry employees through November 14, 2008. Although room rates are guaranteed through this date, space IS LIMITED within our room block and rooms will be given on a first-come first-serve basis. After November 14, 2008, any rooms within our block that are not sold will be released for general sale. The dress code is business casual for the entire conference.
Discounts, cancellations, and refunds
Public Sector organizations registering groups may be eligible for a group discount. Please contact the IPU for more information. Cancellations received after the start of the program will be invoiced at full cost. Substitutions are accepted at any time.
Continuing Education Credits
The Institute of Public Utilities is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
