SUPPORTING THE IPU

The Institute is an independent, not-for-profit research and educational organization located at Michigan State University, which qualifies for charitable support. The Institute is supported in part through grants and contributions from a diverse group of organizations. Contributed funds are designated for general research purposes and in accordance with University rules, contributors cannot stipulate or expect control or specific output.

Contributions help us maintain the Institute and minimize program costs. In particular, contributions support essential and affordable professional-development opportunities for regulatory commissioners and staff members, including "Camp.” Contributions help sustain an independent, university-based knowledge center and a network of expertise that is focused exclusively on utility policy and recognized by the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners. Finally, contributions create opportunities for regulatory and industry leaders to participate in advanced educational programs and interactive conferences.

Supporters of the Institute of Public Utilities are committed to our mission of supporting informed and efficient utility regulation by providing integrative, interdisciplinary, and balanced professional-development opportunities to the regulatory policy community. Current IPU supporters include providers of regulated utility services in the electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, and water sectors.

Contributions to the Institute are accepted at any level of support. Participation on the Institute's Advisory Board requires a grant in the amount of $12,000 or more. Contributors may also be eligible for discounts for the IPU’s Annual Regulatory Policy Conference.
